"Only he who wanders finds new paths." Norwegian Proverb
After staying two nights at Ingeborg’s family Hytte (cabin) due to some really heavy rain, we were up early to get a full start on the day.
I dashed outside (and was caught on camera) in my PJs to pick some fruit while the sun was shining. Don't judge my outfit, it was chilly so I borrowed Inge’s sweatpants and her father’s gardening shoes to pick plums and blueberries for our big camper van road trip extravaganza. Fashion has never been my thing but farming could be!
Let’s start with the good stuff. The landscape on our trip was magnificent!
Our first stop of the day was to an old traditional Norwegian farm called Litunet - Ryfylkemuseet that is now a self-guided museum. There is a laminated paper with a QR code to an audio guide and instructions for the code to the box with the keys that will open all the buildings which are only locked to keep out the animals. The last line on the instruction form happily says, “Remember to tidy and lockup after yourselves.” How cute and kind.
I love the Norwegian people. They are so trusting…probably because people seem to respect, well pretty much everything, each other, other people's property, nature, etc. It is as close to a utopian society as I have found.
The farm was gorgeous. It was interesting to see how people “back in the day” would have lived. It’s fairly remote so these folks would have been completely self-sustaining. Survival of the fittest during those harsh winter conditions.
I could see why someone would choose this spot though. The views were stunning.
After our farm tour, we hopped back in the van and took off towards Folgefonna galcier with a stop along the way for lunch with a view.
